In these lessons you will begin to investigate some of the reasons why some young people are attracted to joining gangs. You will have spotted some common themes, highlighted through both the video and case study – Kyle’s story. For some young people gang membership appears to be a badge of honour, offering the member protection and respect. There are, however, much deeper more far-reaching reasons, which you will investigate throughout the remainder of this course. As you continue the course you will hold on to the key question, do bad kids join gangs or does a bad society push them in that direction.
