Gwent Music
Gwent Music is at the heart of music making in South Wales and a flagship music service in the UK.
From one to one lessons to full scale performances and events, we provide quality and inspiration at every level.
We are a Local Authority Music Service in collaboration with Newport, Blaenau Gwent, Monmouthshire, and Torfaen local authorities.
Our team is friendly, professional and approachable – we are highly skilled musicians but totally understand the journey of the beginner. If you would like more information please get in touch!
Vision, Mission & Values
Our Mission
Our mission is to promote and create access to the many benefits of music education both in school and in the community. By providing children and young people with an opportunity to perform whether as an individual or as part of a group, our team of experienced tutors will support them to grow musically, socially, emotionally and intellectually.
Our Vision
We aim to foster a desire in children and young people to actively participate in music-making both in their school and in the wider community. As a catalyst for creativity, expression and imagination. Gwent Music will inspire and motivate children and young people to perform and play with enjoyment, passion and distinction. Working with our partners we will bring music to life in schools and in the community.
Core Values
Providing Opportunity
Diversity and inclusiveness shape our core values. We aim to create music opportunities that broaden children and young peoples’ cultural experience of music and benefit all, regardless of social or economic background.
Nurture Creativity
We nurture music-making skills by creating and providing quality opportunities and experiences for all, as individuals, as small groups or as large groups.
Excellence in Tuition
Experienced, knowledgeable, and passionate tutors are the essence of Gwent Music. We believe excellence in music tuition begins with strong and honest connections between schools, children, young people and families. We continuously seek to improve our performance and we value, encourage, and promote ongoing professional development and sharing practices amongst colleagues. We are consciously looking to create and introduce new styles to help us meet the changing needs of schools and their pupils.
Do the Right Thing
We are an honest, transparent organisation and are committed to doing what is best for schools, children, young people and our colleagues. We openly collaborate with our team and our stakeholders to learn from any mistakes and improve our performance.
Support Each Other
We are committed to building an encouraging, caring, and supportive service. We share a responsibility to support our colleagues and enrich their lives.
Take Ownership
We are accountable for ourselves, our colleagues, our organisation and the children, young people and schools we support. We are aligned to our vision, and each contribute to, and are accountable for, its success.
