10 Count Boxing CIO

Ten Count Centre, based in Bentilee, Stoke-on-Trent, began as a grassroots boxing gym in 2015 and formalised as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation in October 2020. Housed in the repurposed Winchester Halls, a former Methodist church, it serves as both a community hub and fitness facility.

Core mission

  • Empowering disadvantaged and vulnerable groups—young people, families, seniors, those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), the unemployed, and individuals affected by health inequalities or the criminal justice system—through inclusive boxing, fitness, and wellbeing programmes.

  • Promoting physical and mental health, confidence, self-discipline, social inclusion, and community cohesion.

Programs & services

  • Boxing & fitness: Non-contact classes (e.g., “BoxFit”), strength/cardio circuits, youth boxing, and professional coaching. They also run ChairFit sessions for seniors.

  • Youth & SEND: Saturday youth clubs, holiday sports camps, dance sessions for girls aged 6–16 (“Girl Dance!”), and specialist SEND coaching.

  • Community support: Family fitness, outreach activities, and volunteer-led programs supported by Stoke-on-Trent City Council.

Team & facilities

  • A qualified team including former pro boxers (founders Max Maxwell & Lee Jones), England Boxing Level 1–2 coaches, youth workers, and specialists in First Aid and safeguarding.

  • A well-equipped gym featuring a boxing ring, 20+ punch bag stations, cardio and strength equipment, plus space available for venue hire for events or photo shoots.

Ten Count Centre offers both full-access memberships (£25/month or £5 pay-as-you-go) and many free or low-cost sessions, balancing fitness training with a mission-driven approach to community development and social empowerment.
