Our Founder

Built FromConviction.

Knife Crime Matters CIC was founded by Andrew Brown with a single, uncompromising purpose: to reduce knife crime in communities across England and Wales. Not through vague awareness campaigns or passive social media posts, but through structured, evidenced, on-the-ground action.

Andrew built KCM from the ground up into a nationally recognised organisation – trusted by police forces, football clubs, construction companies, local authorities and schools. His approach has always been the same: get the right resources into the right places, document everything, and make the impact visible.

Under Andrew’s leadership, KCM has installed murals across the country, delivered free resource packages to hundreds of schools, appeared on BBC Radio Sheffield, partnered with British Transport Police and Network Rail, and built a network of over 100 business partners who trust KCM with their name and their investment.

Our Story

How We GotHere.

KCM has grown from a bold idea into a nationally trusted organisation. Here is how that journey has unfolded.

2023

KCM Is Founded

Knife Crime Matters CIC is incorporated as a registered Community Interest Company in England and Wales (Reg No. 14906741). The mission is clear from day one: get practical knife crime prevention resources into schools, for free, funded by business partners.

2024

National Partnerships Begin

KCM establishes partnerships with British Transport Police and Network Rail, running awareness campaigns at train stations across the country. Construction and housebuilding firms including Keepmoat begin sponsoring schools, using KCM as documented social value evidence in public sector tenders.

2025

Community Murals and Media Coverage

KCM’s community mural programme grows significantly. The LOSS Mural is unveiled nationally. Andrew Brown appears on BBC Radio Sheffield. Stoke City FC Foundation joins as a partner. The partner network surpasses 100 organisations across England and Wales.

2026

Harvey Willgoose Mural at Sheffield Meadowhall

One of KCM’s most high-profile projects to date is unveiled – the Harvey Willgoose mural at Sheffield Meadowhall, in partnership with Keepmoat. The event brings together community leaders, sponsors and local figures in a moment that captures exactly what KCM stands for: visible, permanent, community-driven action.

A Landmark Moment

The Harvey WillgooseMural.

The Harvey Willgoose mural unveiling at Sheffield Meadowhall was one of the most significant moments in KCM’s history. It was not simply an artwork. It was a public declaration – a permanent, visible statement in one of the most visited locations in South Yorkshire that knife crime will not be ignored.

The event brought together community leaders, business partners, local organisations and members of the public united by a shared commitment to making communities safer. Mark Burley, Social Value and Partnership Manager at Keepmoat, and Andrew Brown, Founder and Director of KCM, were instrumental in driving the project forward.

Alongside the mural unveiling, the partnership resulted in the provision of life-saving bleed kits to local establishments – a practical, tangible outcome that reflects KCM’s approach to every partnership: action over words, evidence over promises.

The event brought together individuals and organisations committed to making a positive difference in the local area. Their partnership demonstrated a shared commitment to creating safer environments and offering support to local establishments.

What We Stand For

Our Values inAction.

Everything KCM does is guided by three principles. Not words on a wall – these are the standards we hold ourselves to every day.

🎯

Accountability

We are a registered CIC. Every pound spent, every school supported, every partner named is documented and evidenced. We do not make vague claims – we produce formal evidence letters, public records and named outcomes.

🔗

Collaboration

No single organisation can solve knife crime. KCM works alongside police forces, local authorities, football clubs, construction firms and schools – connecting the people and organisations that can make the biggest difference together.

📍

Community Presence

We believe in showing up. Murals in shopping centres. Resources in classrooms. Bleed kits in community spaces. KCM’s work is visible, permanent and rooted in the real places where young people live their lives.

It is amazing what you are achieving in spreading the word. Almost every day on the news we are hearing of knife crime incidents – anything you and others can do to reduce this ridiculous waste of lives, the better the world will be. Please do keep it up and we are more than happy to support in some small way.
