BE PART OF CHANGE

Jeannine Burke is the founder of Be Part Of Change (BPOC). Within our first year we have been funded by different organisations to help the community and create safer spaces.

We were nominated for the Be Proud Awards in 2023 where we won the “Creating Safer Neighbourhoods” award.

Our driving purpose is to change knife crime laws so we can create better ways to keep both our community and young people safe.

What We do:

Games Hub

We opened our Game hub area in 2024 to enable 8 to 18 year olds to come to a safe space and enjoy both board and computer games, whilst feeling safe and secure. The game hub has been an amazing success with many young people regularly attending where they continue to make new friends.

Safe Space

We run weekly Safe Space meetings for those that have lost a loved one to knife crime, or if you feel your young person is going down that route you can drop in for a confidential chat.

Ty Talks Workshops

Our Ty Talks workshops are based in schools, colleges and Youth Clubs, where I tell Ty’s story, the ripple effect and discuss preventing knife crime. We also patrol local areas where there may be concern for knife crime in an effort to help the community.

We have done some great work but we need to do more, too many young people are affected by knife crime so please help us to prevent anymore young lives being lost or affected.

Working with Knife Crime Matters

Be Part Of Change works alongside Knife Crime Matters to deliver powerful talks and presentations within schools using a variety of educational resources.

These talks combine the best of both educational and emotional aspects of knife crime. Delving into the true consequences for all involved and how to prevent children from becoming a victim to knife crime.
