Wythenshawe Knife Crime Awareness Campaign
On the 28th March 2025 a powerful new mural highlighting the dangers of knife crime will be unveiled at the West Wythenshawe Boxing Club. The mural is a key part of the Knife Crime Matters campaign, an integrated awareness initiative aimed at educating young people and reducing knife crime in the area.
The campaign will see the full suite of Knife Crime Matters educational resources distributed to all secondary schools in the region, providing young people with essential knowledge on the consequences of knife and gang related crime and ways to stay safe and free from this harrowing and growing threat.
This vital initiative has been made possible with the support of Eddie Bates from Wythenshawe Black Belt Academy, Clive Smith and Andy Parry from the West Wythenshawe Boxing Club, and Jeannine Burke from Be Part Of Change. Their commitment to youth development and community safety has been instrumental in bringing this project to life.
The mural will be officially unveiled by Mike Kane, the local MP, who has been a strong advocate for initiatives tackling knife crime and youth violence. The event will also be attended by key members of the local business community, whose generous support has helped make this campaign possible. Special thanks go to Morgan Sindall Construction, Kenny Waste Management, Chartrange, Beacon Fostering, 10 Architects, F Duerr & Sons and Wythenshawe Dental Clinic, all of whom have donated to ensure that this campaign can succeed.
Knife crime remains a serious issue, and this campaign seeks to educate young people on the dangers of carrying weapons while empowering them to make positive choices. By combining impactful visual messaging with educational resources, Knife Crime Matters aims to make a lasting difference in the community.
Media representatives are invited to attend the unveiling. There will be opportunities for interviews with campaign leaders and community advocates who support this initiative.
