Knife Crime Matters is Working with Wythenshawe Black Belt Academy To Eradicate Knife Crime
Our mission is to reach every child in Wythenshawe and Greater Manchester with our message before it’s too late, and more young lives are lost, or drawn into this deadly cycle of gang culture, violence and fear.
How To Get Involved

About Wythenshawe Black Belt Academy

Eddie Bates, the owner of Wyhtenshawe Black Belt Academy has made it his goal to provide a friendly, accessible and most importantly fun experience for adults and children alike to learn about martial arts and self defense.
An integral part of what we do at the Academy revolves around inclusivity, mentorship and helping to build strong community ties with a view to encourage young people to avoid the dangers of crime and in particular knife crime.
By partnering with Knife Crime Matters Eddie hopes to…
‘I want to reach more children and young adults and steer them away from potential harm involving knife crime. Being a community run academy I see and hear about a lot of crime and want to help as many people as possible avoid and if necessary defend against such awful incidents.
We run a fantastic Academy here with great options for people from disadvantaged backgrounds and our Antisocial Behaviour Scholarship the perfect platform to enable kids especially to access our training and develop key life skills such as self-confidence, self-worth and the social skills needed to train and work together as a team. All of which will aid them in later life.’

Andy and his team were great in ensuring resources were tailored to the organisation and provided a clear narrative on the progress throughout the production process. I'm sure many other organisations will benefit from the team’s services.”

I wanted to thank you for the Knife Crime booklet and resources. Upon careful evaluation, I find these materials to be of praiseworthy quality and relevance. Moving forward, I intend to incorporate these resources into our curriculum, as they align well with our educational objectives and contribute meaningfully to our efforts in addressing and educating students about the issue of knife crime.
